AOL is offering new customers signing up to its Wireless Plus Broadband package the chance to get their hands on a Sony PlayStation 3 at no extra cost (12-09-08).

Customers signing up to the £19.99 a month package for 24 months will be able to enjoy up to 8Mb broadband, a 40GB a month download allowance and a free wireless router as well as their 40GB PS3 - which comes with a Spiderman 3 Blu-Ray DVD and Gran Turismo 5 Prologue game.

"At £19.99 a month you’ll be paying a lot more than the cost of a PS3 over the course of two years"

The package also comes with an AOL Talk Pay As You Go subscription, which now includes free weekend calls to UK landlines.

AOL's (www.AOL.co.uk) free laptop is still available on the Wireless Plus package to customers who would rather have a computer than PS3, though the word “free” has now been dropped from all of the Carphone Warehouse’s advertising since customers actually pay a higher monthly rate over a longer contract when “free” laptops or games consoles are included.

Michael Phillips, BroadbandChoices.co.uk product director, said: “At £19.99 a month you’ll be paying a lot more than the cost of a PS3 over the course of two years. However, if you’ve been hankering after a new top of the range games console for a while, but can’t afford one outright, this is a great way to spread the cost.”

Hi, Word of warning, I've gone with Aol from Dec 07, Wireless package, 18mth contract 1st 6mts at £14.99, currently £19.99. On January 08 on Aol live chat I was assured we would receive a free Lap Top 10mths into our contract. On contacting them recently they denied this and after some waffle ie mis-understanding supposedly on my be-half ! I was forwarded reluctantly to their Sales team for more Waffle.
