Wireless internet provider BT Openzone launched a new price structure yesterday, cutting wifi rates by up to 50 per cent (16-10-08).
After the loss of The Cloud’s 6,500 hotspots, BT Openzone (www.BT.com) customers will be happy to hear that the provider has also added a further 2,500 hotspots to its range.
BT Openzone still offers vouchers to those wanting one-off wireless access, but has revamped its monthly subscriptions, cutting headline rates and bringing some costs down to as little as 0.5 pence per minute in some places.
Michael Phillips, BroadbandChoices.co.uk product director, said: “Although wireless hotspots don’t offer the same sort of freedom as mobile broadband - which works anywhere that there’s a mobile phone signal - wifi still has a lot to offer.
“Connections are often faster and more reliable than mobile broadband and with data costing only 10p per minute internationally - far less than mobile broadband roaming prices - BT Openzone’s many thousands of hotspots across the UK and abroad are offering better value than ever before.”
