BT's grass roots football
(18-07-07) - BT Vision is adding a new subscription to its array of services, offering Premier League football matches for only £4 a month.
Their sports package allows customers access to 242 'near live' football matches, only hours after they have aired.
BT hopes its BT Vision Sport subscription, which can be bought on a month-by-month basis, will fill a gap in the market left by football fans unwilling or unable to pay hefty fees for their sports coverage.
Dan Marks, BT Vision CEO, said: "Highlights on Match of The Day are fine but many fans want more, particularly those who follow teams that aren't often featured live."
BT Vision Sport can also be combined with Setanta Sport (visit www.setanta.co.uk) to make the "total" package for only £12. BT Vision Sport offers on-demand coverage of 242 Barclays Premier League matches, and in a new deal, up to 125 Coca Cola League and Carling Cup games. Setanta Sport offers live match footage as well as action from other European football leagues, US PGA tour golf, Nascar and Magners League rugby.
Dan Marks, BT Vision CEO, said: "We're a sports-loving nation and ordinary fans shouldn't be priced out of the action," while Ian Livingston, BT Retail CEO added: "Fans can now follow their team for less than a pound a week."
Chris Eagle, BroadbandChoices.co.uk commercial manager, said: "Customers wanting this very competitively priced package will first have to be BT Total Broadband (visit www.bt.com) customers. But those signing up or recontracting can take advantage of its month-on-month packages, including the Sports subscription, as well as its on-demand classic sports footage and documentaries.
"While fans of the bigger teams - who find it easy to follow their favourites - might not find as tempting, those who follow smaller clubs will love this offer."
