  • DevOps Engineer, Development

    As a broadbandchoices.co.uk DevOps Engineer you want to create a system so resilient and scalable that you could release Chaos Monkey on a Friday night at 11pm from your mobile at a pub and still sleep soundly; you believe in continuous integration, infrastructure as code and most likely moved into DevOps from a development background.

    DevOps Engineer, Development

    As a broadbandchoices.co.uk DevOps Engineer you want to create a system so resilient and scalable that you could release Chaos Monkey on a Friday night at 11pm from your mobile at a pub and still sleep soundly; you believe in continuous integration, infrastructure as code and most likely moved into DevOps from a development background.

    As a DevOps Engineer you will be expected to:

    1. Bring best practice, passion, drive and fresh ideas into the highly talented team.
    2. Establish a position as a trusted technical authority providing advice and guidance.
    3. Improve the existing build and monitoring platform to identify potential issues as early as possible
    4. Ensure the whole team improves by implementing new processes and engineering practices. Conducting research on emerging technologies to support changes in technology choices.
    5. Work with other developers to create a highly available, horizontally scalable cloud infrastructure
    6. Be flexible and available out of hours where required to handle any mission critical issues/deployments.

    Key Experience/Skills:
    • Automation and Continuous Delivery (preferably with TeamCity)
    • PowerShell scripting ninja – experience with Psake and similar PowerShell modules
    • Cloud architectural patterns for elastic scaling and messaging. The terms infrastructure as code or immutable servers are not alien to you.
    • Understanding of the various cloud services e.g. instances, distributed caching, notification, queues, federated identity, etc.
    • 3 Years+ proven DevOps experience in AWS or MS Azure
    • Experience with TDD in any modern development language
    • Experience with NoSQL (Not only SQL) and HA setups of these databases, preferably document store
    • Experience with HA environments
    • Experience with semantic application monitoring preferably New Relic, CloudWatch, Google Analytics and similar.
    • Experience working in a Scrum / Kanban Team
    • Experienced in Infrastructure design for a high traffic commercial or ecommerce website
    • Superb written and verbal communication and presentation skills
    • Personable and diplomatic
    • Professional and organised
    • Desirable – experience with Blue / Green deployments
    • Desirable - Software development experience using primarily the Microsoft stack.
    • Desirable – has heard of Jez Humble and read the Continuous Delivery book

    We are looking for an exceptional Senior C# and Front End Lead Developer to join our team. We are a Microsoft house, specialising in C#.NET and MVC.NET. This role would suit a true end to end developer and the successful candidate will have the responsibility of producing cutting edge web applications using feature driven development with TDD and BDD. As a Lead Developer you will play an integral part in designing the overall architecture of the core business systems.     Technical Lead, Development

    We are looking for an exceptional Senior C# and Front End Lead Developer to join our team. We are a Microsoft house, specialising in C#.NET and MVC.NET. The Development Team works directly with in-house Design Team and Product Owners. This role would suit a true end to end developer. The Lead Developer will report directly into the Product Engineering Director and will have the responsibility of producing cutting edge web applications using feature driven development with TDD and BDD. As a Lead Developer you will play an integral part in designing the overall architecture of the core business systems.

    We are looking for an enthusiastic, idealistic, creative developer with clear, confident and accomplished communication skills. You should be a pragmatic, multi-tasking problem solver, hands-on with highly effective prioritisation skills. Using your extensive knowledge of TDD and SOLID principles you will mentor other developers while also being responsible for their professional development including weekly training opportunities and dedicated research and development time.

    Opportunities / Responsibilities:
    • Develop high-volume commercial websites for four countries and over sixty partners using Microsoft’s MVC implementation for use on multiple platforms and devices
    • Craft high quality, maintainable code using TDD
    • Both lead and participate as a team member in a Scrum / Kanban Team
    • Delivery business value through code and experience
    • Assist DevOps evolving our processes and infrastructure e.g. cloud hosting, cloud services, CI and internal tools
    • Line manage a team of 5-7 developers including creating professional development plans
    • Close collaboration with Product/Design roles and manage coordination of KPI driven Growth Hacking within the team
    • Innovate and expand the capabilities of the Senior Team
    • Agile/LEAN development process management
    • Confidently represent the technical opinions and approach of the team in-front of the wider company audience

    Essential key skills / experience:
    • Proven and solid professional experience using c# MVC and the razor view engine
    • Proven software development experience using HTML/CSS, C# and JavaScript
    • Strong Front End / JavaScript with exposure to JQuery and cross browser CSS 3 practices
    • Good working knowledge of IOC and ORM systems, exposure to MSpec / automapper / specflow
    • Strong communication skills and an ability to compel and motivate colleagues
    • Proven experience working on responsive design smartphone/tablet front end designs
    • Experience with front end frameworks such as backbone.js or angular.js
    • Strong understanding of effective product development in a consumer internet business
    • Extensive experience with TDD and Refactoring existing code
    • Excellent knowledge of OO concepts
    • Kanban or Scrum experience
    • Experience with chromedriver / selenium automated headed or headless browser testing
    • Desirable - Knowledge of MongoDB or other NoSQL database
    • Desirable - Knowledge of other technologies such as Ruby, F# or Java
    • Desirable - Understanding of web standards, MRSS, RSS, XHTML, JSON a plus
    • Desirable - Understanding of Enterprise Architecture
