Eclipse Broadband

Eclipse Internet offers a whopping eight different broadband packages at good value prices, with customer services the company is proud of.

Eclipse Internet was launched in 1995 with just £20,000 and launched a dial-up internet service in 1996. Its first national broadband service came around in 2001, and it was the first UK service that was simple enough to be installed at home without the need for an IT expert or engineer. In 2002, Eclipse became the first UK ISP to offer online broadband ordering.

The Eclipse Broadband Service

Customers who switch their broadband service to Eclipse get a free router and the first month’s subscription for free. More information on switching broadband provider

Eclipse’s packages are spread over two different broadband solutions; Evolution Broadband and Home Broadband.

There are four packages in each solution; Options 1-4, and each option costs the same on Evolution or Home broadband. The only difference is the way that your download allowances will work.

All of the Home Broadband packages have set download limits, Option 1, which costs £14.99 a month has a download limit of 2GB, Option 2, at £18.99 a month has a limit of 10GB, Option 3, at £24.99 a month has a limit of 20GB and Option 4, which costs £29.99 a month has a download limit of 40GBa month.

Additional usage costs £1.75 per GB.

The Evolution packages all come with “unlimited” downloads but are subject to a fair usage policy, and will face traffic management during peak hours - which Home Broadband users won’t have to deal with. The price you pay per month with Evolution Broadband will affect the extent to which your broadband performance is managed.

Additional extras

Eclipse customers can also add a home phone package to their broadband, and customers on Home or Evolution Broadband Options 1-3 get a free router, while those taking Option 4 get a free wireless router.

Customers switching to Eclipse and signing a 12 month contract will also get free connection and one month’s free broadband.

Eclipse awards & accreditations

Eclipse has been nominated for the 2008 Internet Service Providers’ Association (ISPA) “Best Business ISP” and “Best Business Email” awards.

It also won the award for the “Best Consumer Broadband” at the 2007 ISPA awards, where an ISPA spokesperson said: “The judges were impressed with Eclipse’s ‘zero-touch’ fully automated order processing service and rapid delivery of its broadband services. Of particular note were Eclipse’s efforts to provide uncapped broadband.”

In previous years it won other awards from the ISPA and also received commendations from PC Pro magazine and the British Computer Society.
