BT’s latest superfast fibre broadband trial has gone live in Scotland, offering eligible businesses speeds of up to 40Mb.

The fibre to the cabinet trial allows BT Broadband (www.BT.com) business customers connected to the Glasgow to take advantage of superfast broadband downloads and upload speeds of up to 2Mb from now until March 2010.

Superfast broadband is the future of business technology

Recent research by the ISP found that 61% of small and medium businesses consider faster broadband to have a positive impact on their business.

A further 28% of businesses were using faster broadband to expand their website capabilities, while a quarter were using it to employ more bandwidth-hungry technology.

“Superfast broadband is the future of business technology. Two thirds of firms already recognise the positive impact of faster speeds,” said Bill Murphy, managing director, BT Business. “Our three superfast broadband trials will allow businesses to tell us just how they want to use the services and what’s possible in real world conditions.”

BT has pledged £1.5bn to connecting 40% of the UK - or some 10m premises - to a next generation broadband network by 2012.

Michael Phillips, Broadbandchoices.co.uk product director, said: “Whether you run a small business or work from home, a fast, reliable small business broadband connection can make a huge difference to your company - and a next generation fibre connection will allow you to take your online presence to the next level.”

Businesses interested in the trial should call BT Local Business on 0800 633 5606 for further information.
