Mobile broadband discount for students
Garnet Roach garnet@consumerchoices.co.uk
Natwest is offering students £50 off a 3 mobile broadband connection when they open a new student account (25-06-08).
New customers will still be able to take advantage of 3's (www.Three.co.uk) other offers such as a free dongle for almost all customers and a 50 per cent discount on line rental for existing customers signing up for 18 or 24 months - taking the cheapest package down to only £5 a month.

"Students need to be careful about how much they’re downloading"

As well as a host of other offers - including a free Microsoft webcam and rail pass - the high street bank will also be offering £100 off selected Asus notebooks to help students get online and stay in touch with friends and family back home.
Mark Worthington, head of NatWest student and graduate banking, said that the bank’s student package had “evolved in response to what students have told us really matters to them” in order to provide “the additional support they may need at this new and exciting time in their lives”.
The offer is available to all students signing up before the end of October.
Michael Phillips, BroadbandChoices.co.uk product director, said: “This is a really great offer, giving students a head-start on all the things they need to keep in touch and stay online at university.
“However, as the download allowances on mobile broadband packages are not very high - 3’s plans come with 1GB, 3GB or 7GB a month - students need to be careful about how much they’re downloading to ensure that they don’t end up with high bills at the end of the month after exceeding their limit.
“Install our free Broadband Download Monitor to keep an eye on your usage limit and set alarms so that you don’t go over your allowance,” he advised.
