BT announces the matches it will show live exclusively on its new sports channels in the first three months of the season. Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea and Arsenal are all set to feature.

The first Premier League matches to be shown live on BT Sport, the new group of sports channels from telecoms giant BT, have been revealed.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Chelsea is arguably the highlight of BT Sport's August-December 2013 schedule, with Spurs' head coach Andre Villas-Boas set to face his former mentor, Blues boss José Mourinho.

Other highlights include Everton hosting Liverpool in the first Merseyside derby of the season and defending Premier League champions Manchester United making their BT Sport debut when newly-promoted Crystal Palace visit Old Trafford.

Simon Green, director of BT Sport, said: "We are thrilled that BT Sport viewers will be able to enjoy these top-of-the-table matches free with BT broadband.

"This is the first time in Premier League history that top pick matches have been shown anywhere other than on Sky, but Sky TV customers can easily add BT Sport by calling us and if they have BT broadband they can get it for free."

Premier League heavyweights Arsenal, Chelsea, Everton, Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur will all appear at least twice on BT Sport in the first third of the season, but BT has used only five of its 18 'top picks' thus far.

BT Sport has exclusive rights to show 38 Premier League matches live a season for the next three seasons. It has first choice on what match to show in 18 of the 38 rounds of matches played each season - the first time anyone other than Sky has shown 'first pick' Premier League matches.

The first Premier League match to be shown live on BT Sport will also be the first match of the 2013/2014 Premier League season to be played - Liverpool vs Stoke City, kicking off at 12.45pm on Saturday 17 August, 2013.
