Fancy 40Mb from Be?

Fancy 40Mb from Be?

Super-fast broadband provider Be Broadband is looking for existing customers to trail a new line-bonding technology that could offer speeds of up to 40Mb (19-09-08).

The one month trial will work by combining two telephone lines via a single ADSL+2 router so that you’re using the strength of two lines to get a single broadband connection.

"If you get 10Mb now then during the trial you could get an average speed of 20Mb"

The increased speed will vary depending on what you currently get, for example, “if you get 10Mb now then during the trial you could get an average speed of 20Mb” the company said. But Be Broadband (www.BeThere.co.uk) also warned that as with all ADSL connections, your new speed will still depend on the length and quality of the two phone lines used.

Contact Be on 020 7479 5029 by Friday 26 September 2008 to book your place on the trial or email them at linebondingtrial@beunlimited.co.uk

Once you’ve on the trial, Be will contact BT (www.BT.com) on your behalf to order the two telephone lines. Then all you have to do to start enjoying your new speeds is simply meet a member of the Be team to pick up your new router.

And as a thank you for taking part in its line bonding trial and enjoying speeds of up to 40Mb Be will even give you your trial month for free - and the following month’s subscription too. And you can keep the two lines (which are incoming calls only) for a full 12 months free of charge.

Michael Phillips, BroadbandChoices.co.uk product director, said: “This is a great offer from Be, saving customers money on their subscription at the same time as temporarily increasing their download speeds.

“However, customers should be aware that second lines do not usually have the same quality as the first line that’s installed in a home so speeds are unlikely to double and in the long term it’s doubtful that broadband customers would be willing to pay rental costs on two lines for the added speed. However, this is still an interesting trail and I am keen to see the results,” he said.
