Students looking for shorter broadband packages can now get a nine-month contract from Virgin Media (www.Virginmedia.com).
The packages offer speeds of up to 10Mb or 20Mb broadband - but contracts only run for nine-months.

Virgin Media’s cable broadband packages do not need a phone line - which is perfect for students, though home phone calls can be added to the 20Mb XL package.
NUS Extra cardholders also enjoy free activation, saving them an additional £20.
The L Broadband package offers speeds of up to 10Mb for £20 a month and the 20Mb package costs £25 a month for three months then £30 as a standalone broadband package. If you want to add a landline and weekend calls, the 20Mb package costs £15 a month for two months, then £20 a month - plus £11.99 for line rental.
Michael Phillips, Broadbandchoices.co.uk product director, said: “Virgin Media broadband is a great choice for students - offering fast speeds that can be easily shared around a student house as well as internet connections without the need for a landline.
“And now that Virgin Media is offering shorter nine-month packages - perfectly suited to the academic year - it’s an even better choice for anyone heading off to uni.”
Virgin Media is also offering a 15% student discount on its mobile broadband and mobile phone contracts.
