One in five Sky customers choose a triple play bundle

Increasing numbers of Sky broadband (www.Sky.com) customers are now taking a bundle including broadband, home phone and digital TV, the provider revealed today.

The telecoms giant added an impressive 119,000 new broadband customers over the last three months, maintaining its spot as one of the UK’s fastest growing providers.

This brought its total broadband customer base to 2.6 million, of which 883,000 users are connected to its own local loop unbundled (LLU) network, allowing them to take advantage of Sky’s cheaper broadband deals.

It also mentioned plans to further extend its LLU network, which currently covers 74% of the UK.

Since the start of June, Sky has only offered two broadband packages; Everyday Lite and Unlimited. Both come with speeds of up to 20Mb broadband, but the Everyday Lite package - which is a free add-on when take Sky TV and Talk - comes with a low 2GB download limit.

On the other hand, Sky Unlimited - which costs just £7.50 a month when you take Sky TV and Talk - is one of the UK’s only truly unlimited broadband packages, with no fair usage policy or traffic management.

Customers who want Sky broadband but don’t want to sign up to Sky TV can also now sign up to the Unlimited package by paying an extra £2.50 a month, plus Sky Talk.

Jeremy Darroch, Chief Executive, said: “Customers are choosing Sky in ever greater numbers, not just for TV but across our entire product range.

“Customers are choosing broader bundles of services, with one in five now taking all three of TV, broadband and telephony. Overall, customers are taking 45% more additional subscription products than a year ago.”
