T-Mobile has come out top for value for money in a new YouGov mobile broadband survey.
The mobile broadband provider came top in nine out of 13 categories in the research, including value for money; reliability during the day; upload speeds; download speeds; getting connected; ease of use; billing; installation and customer services.
T-Mobile Broadband (www.T-Mobile.co.uk) came second for quality and staying connected, said the report, which surveyed almost 2,000 mobile broadband users.
Richard Warmsley, T-Mobile UK head of internet and entertainment, said: “The results of this latest YouGov mobile broadband survey indicate that we’re offering our internet customers the right mix of consistent performance and service, at a fair price.
“We are particularly pleased about our top rating for value for money. In today’s economic climate, we recognise value is a key factor for people looking for a flexible broadband solution. Our customers can stay connected wherever they need to, with the added peace of mind of no sneaky extra charges if they exceed their internet fair use policy.”
T-Mobile also announced that it would have “near complete population coverage for 3G services by 2010”. The provider is also in the in the process of upgrading the underlying download capability of its network to 7.2Mb within the M25 and other major cities, “providing realistic mobile broadband speeds of up to 4.5Mb in those enabled areas”.
Michael Phillips, BroadbandChoices.co.uk product director, said: “Value for money is important but that doesn’t always mean you should take the cheapest broadband available.
“Although T-Mobile also came top in eight other categories including getting connected, ease of use and download speeds, individual customers should still shop around and do their research before signing a mobile broadband contract.
“Coverage can be patchy in some areas so you should always check each provider’s online coverage map to see who has the strongest signal where you live,” he advised.
