Orange tops mobile broadband poll

Mobile phone and broadband provider Orange has been voted the best overall mobile broadband provider in a new poll.

Orange Broadband (www.Orange.co.uk) came top of the UK-wide poll for its mobile broadband customer experience and for having the best network.

More than 84 per cent of the UK population is covered by Orange’s 3G network and the ISP is investing £1 million every working day to develop its network and offer speeds of up to 7.2Mb to the UK’s top 30 cities and up to 2Mb to 80 per cent of the population.

“Being awarded the best mobile broadband network by our customers across the UK is a real honour. We have taken significant measures to improve the quality of our network for both voice and data, and are so glad that our customers are really starting to see the benefit,” said Paul Tollet, vice president, Orange Business.

“Orange is not only committed to improving our overall network coverage but we also go that extra bit further and develop the right tariffs, services and devices so everyone can get the benefit of mobile broadband wherever they are, whenever they want and at the right price,” he concluded.

The sample size for the YouGov poll was 3,138, of which 2,073 used mobile broadband in the form of a mobile dongle, USB modem stick or datacard. However, only 195 people actually used Orange.

Michael Phillips, BroadbandChoices.co.uk product director, said: “Orange only actually offers two mobile broadband packages - one with a ‘free’ laptop and one as a standalone product - and neither of these are especially competitive. Customers should compare the market to find the best deal to suit their needs,” he advised, “and ensure that they have checked the coverage in their own area before signing up.”
