A wireless network in your home is great for connecting to the internet on multiple computers, no matter where you are in the house. But that’s not all you can do with wireless - it has many other tricks up its sleeve too.

To get started, you need a wireless router. Many ISPs now offer free routers to customers willing to sign a contract with them, but if you’re an existing customer or only want to sign up on a monthly basis, you’ll have to buy your own.
Belkin, Linksys and Netgear all make reliable routers that will be able to handle all your needs.
The new generation of games consoles are all capable of connecting to the internet to let you take your gaming to the next level and battle your friends down the road or on another continent. So to make the most of your Nintendo Wii, Playstation 3 or XBox 360, simply hook it up to your wifi network.
To make your home truly wireless, buy a media streaming device from D-Link, Freecom or Netgear. These router-like devices allow you to connect all the media in your home without wires, so you can stream video content from your PC to your TV, gaming from XBox 360 to your plasma screen or online radio to your sound system.
By taking advantage of free, and paid-for, wireless hotspots, you can sit in a café, airport or even McDonalds and surf the web with your laptop, PDA, wireless-enabled mobile phone or Sony PSP.
You can also sign up to Freedon4wifi (www.Freedom4wifi) to use a network of more than 40,000 wireless hotspots worldwide, with a range of pay-as-you-go, pre-pay and subscription options available.
