AOL Broadband and phone offers

All of AOL’s's (www.AOL.co.uk) broadband packages come with downloads of up to 8Mb and a free wireless router, but now they can also be bundled with a range of home phone packages too.

AOL Broadband

AOL offers download speeds of up to 24Mb if you take a calls package and line rental with your broadband. If you do not want to take AOL's line rental you will only be offered AOL's up to 8Mb download speed.

All AOL broadband packages come with a 10GB download allowance and a free wireless router.

AOL Talk

In addition to your AOL broadband package, you can choose from a selection of six different home phone packages.

Talk Unlimited offers inclusive calls to local and national numbers at any time, with no limit on how long you can talk.

Talk Evenings & Weekends offers free calls to local and national numbers, between 7pm and 7am and all weekend, with no limit on how long you can talk and no minimum contract term.

Talk Unlimited International Plus allows you to make as many calls as you like to landlines in 55 countries, as well as UK local and national calls. However, calls to international landlines are capped at 60 minutes per call, and standard international rates apply after your first 60 minutes (redial after 59 minutes to avoid further charges).

Talk Unlimited International offers the same plan but with 36 selected international destinations rather than 55.

Talk Evenings & Weekends International offers unlimited calls to 36 countries between 7pm and 7am and all weekend.

AOL also offers a Talk Pay As You Go package, which now comes with free weekend calls. It has no monthly subscription so you simply pay for what you use.

By switching to AOL Talk you’ll be able to take advantage of cheaper calls and the fact that all AOL Broadband customers get free technical support when calling from an AOL line - great for technophobes.

There won’t be a break in your existing home phone service and you’ll get to keep your existing number as well as having access to AOL’s online billing system that’s updated daily so you can easily track your call charges.

AOL broadband comes with a range of benefits, these include:

• McAfee Personal Firewall Plus: this helps keep your computer and home network safe from hackers and viruses
• AOL Broadband HomeSafe is a free security product available to all AOL broadband customers. HomeSafe allows you to switch on Virus Alerts so that you'll receive a warning if you try to access any websites that are infected with a virus. It also offers Kids Safe - which allows you to block specific types of websites at all times, and you can also specify individual sites of your own to block. Homework Time gives you the option to block sites which commonly distract your children during homework time - just set a time period either Monday to Friday or 7 days a week

• No connection fee

AOL

AOL received reasonable reviews in the Broadbandchoices customer satisfaction awards 2011 - however, it fared less well in the download speeds category.

Before signing up to one of AOL’s broadband and home phone packages it should be noted that the provider operates a regional pricing policy. This means that customers living outside of its local loop unbundled (LLU) area have to pay more for their broadband.
