Sky Broadband availability

Answer: It's very likely that you'll be able to get Sky Broadband (www.Sky.com) in your area, as it's delivered through BT (www.BT.com) phone lines.

The BT network covers 98% of the UK: if you have an active BT-compatible phone line in your house, or if BT or Sky can install one for you, you can benefit from Sky Broadband. You will have to pay a line rental charge as well as your monthly broadband fee, but you can choose to pay this to either BT or Sky Talk.

However, where you live will affect which Sky broadband packages you can sign up to. If you live within the provider’s local loop unbundled (LLU) network, you'll be able to sign up to one of its cheaper packages, which also offers speeds of up to 14Mb. But if you live outside of this area - even though you'll still be able to sign up - you'll have to take its Connect package, which costs £17 a month and comes with 8Mb broadband speeds and a 40GB download allowance.

Your location will have an effect on the speed of your connection. The Sky Broadband Unlimited package offers an internet connection of up to 14Mb (and unlimited downloads) but, in practice, the speed will depend on how close your house is to the local BT exchange and how many other households are sharing your internet connection.
