Zen broadband customers could now be getting 20Mb broadband at no extra cost.
Zen Internet (www.Zen.co.uk) customers will soon be able to get 20Mb broadband if their local exchange has BT's (www.BT.com) 21st century technology installed.
Before today, Zen’s broadband package offered up to 8Mb, but thanks to BT’s roll-out of new technology, almost half of the UK’s exchanges are able to support up to 20Mb broadband download speeds and up to 1Mb upload speeds.
BT’s new technology is currently available to 45% of the UK’s homes and businesses. This will rise to 55% by spring next year and 75% by spring 2011. BT makes the latest technology in its exchanges available to other companies such as Zen, under a wholesale sales agreeement.
Any new customers signing-up to Zen will also be put straight on 20Mb broadband if their exchange has the latest technology.
Zen is not planning to increase any package charges or introduce traffic management for its customers, according to a statement on its website.
Michael Phillips, product director at Broadbandchoices.co.uk, said: “Zen is one of the first internet service providers to announce it has migrated its network in line with BT’s new technology.
“Broadband users can expect several other companies to make similar moves in the next days and weeks.”Read our customer reviews to find out what other users think Zen broadband.
