Broadbandchoices Awards 2010

O2 Broadband has been voted the UK’s most popular provider for the second year running in the latest Broadbandchoices.co.uk customer satisfaction survey (22/02/2010).

Nearly 8,500 people voted in our 2010 customer satisfaction survey, with O2 Broadband (www.O2.co.uk) once again winning all six key satisfaction categories as well as being voted best overall provider.

The six key categories were:

• Quality & Reliability
• Speed
• Value for money
• Clarity of pricing and billing
• Customer service/technical support
• Speed of service activation

Plusnet Broadband (www.Plus.net) was highly commended, coming in second - again for second year running - and Sky Broadband (www.Sky.com) took third place.

However, Sky took the top spot in the bundled broadband providers category, followed by Virgin Media (www.Virginmedia.com) and TalkTalk Broadband (www.Talktalk.co.uk), which were both highly commended.

While ISPs showed improved performance in most areas, such as customer support and the quality and reliability of their services, customer satisfaction with download speeds decreased by over 10% since 2008.

Michael Phillips, Broadbandchoices.co.uk product director, said: “As ISPs continue to market their services around ever faster packages, and as increasing numbers of customers use higher bandwidth applications like the BBC iPlayer and online gaming, they are becoming increasingly underwhelmed with the performance of their broadband.

“However, it is reassuring that as the market becomes increasingly saturated, broadband providers are improving their customer service and technical support, as well as making a concerted effort to get new customers online faster.”
