BT Infinity delivers superfast broadband over fibre optic cables - at competitive prices.

In October, Openreach, the division of BT which manages access to the telephone network for all broadband providers, announced a £2.5billion investment plan that would see it increase its superfast broadband coverage from the current level - 20% of the UK - to 40% by 2012 and to two-thirds of the population by 2014.
Openreach has also announced plans to double the available download speeds of its fibre-to-the-cabinet (FTTC) service. FTTC uses fibre technology between the telephone exchange and the cabinet on your street, with the final leg of your connection, between the street cabinet and your home or business, comprising of traditional copper wire.
BT Infinity product also utilises fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP) technology to deliver speeds of up to 100Mb - which matches the top download speeds offered by Virgin Media, but it boasts upload speeds twice as fast as its chief competitor.
Openreach will use the same FTTP technology to deliver download speeds of up to 300Mb by spring 2012.
If you’re an existing BT customer upgrading to the faster, fibre optic service, you may have to enter into a new contract.
Fibre optic broadband delivers a faster and more reliable broadband experience than traditional copper wire ADSL connections.
Ofcom speed tests carried out in November 2011, found that customers with BT's up to 38Mb connection received average speeds of around 36Mb.
If BT Infinity isn't available in your area, there is a fibre optic alternative. Virgin Media offers the UK’s fastest, widely available broadband packages with its 50Mb broadband and 100Mb connections, offering eye-wateringly fast speeds to its 12.5 million cable customers. Plus, it is undertaking further upgrades to its network taking speeds up to 120Mb.
