AOL reduces bundle costs

AOL launches new summer prices

Garnet Roach garnet@consumerchoices.co.uk

AOL has reduced the cost of its bundled phone and broadband packages in a bid to boost summer sales (17-06-08).

Under the new offer, bundled packages from the Carphone Warehouse owned provider will be cheaper to take than its standalone offers.

"Before signing up, customers need to consider AOL’s regional pricing policy"

AOL's (www.AOL.co.uk) Wireless package, which has an 18 month contract, will now cost £4.99 a month for the first three months and £9.99 a month thereafter when taken with Talk Evening & Weekends or £12.99 a month when taken with Talk Unlimited - compared with £14.99 a month as a standalone product.

Wireless Flexi, which has a rolling one month contract and a £29.99 connection fee, will cost £4.99 a month for the first three months and £9.99 or £12.99 thereafter when taken with the Talk Evening & Weekends or Talk Unlimited, respectively. Again, compared with £14.99 a month when taken as a standalone broadband service.

Michael Phillips, BroadbandChoices.co.uk product director, said: “AOL has a good customer service reputation and is a good choice for first time broadband users and technophobes.

“Although this isn’t ‘free broadband’ as offered by stable mate TalkTalk (www.TalkTalk.co.uk), this is a good offer, especially considering that it’s the post-introduction rate that’s been reduced.

“However, before signing up, customers need to consider AOL’s regional pricing policy and make sure that they don’t end up paying extra because they aren’t connected to one of its unbundled exchanges,” he advised.

  1. i wouldnt advise anyone to even consider aol, the great deals are just empty words. i was paying for a package and service for a year that no longer existed, the service i was getting was for the package belowe it which was ten pound per month cheaper, this happened to alot of customers, speeds promised never happened, and in general aol has been constant trouble, even a computer expert would struggle to make head or tail of this nightmare service.
