Mr J T Jones - BT Total Broadband Case Study
Mr Jones is a 42-year-old IT Expert who lives alone in his hometown of Shrewsbury. As a recent adopter of BT up to 8mb Broadband, Mr Jones is already delighted with the service. “I have always used the internet for banking, shopping, gaming and emails” he explains, “but now I have a faster broadband connection I am using the web even more than I used to.”
Mr Jones continues; “I never really bothered downloading music before because it took far too long. But now that it’s so much faster and easier to do, I’m really enjoying searching for and downloading my favourite songs. I’ve discovered that downloads are much cheaper than CDs, so I’m also saving money, which is a bonus.”
“Something else I’ve been getting to grips with recently is hosting my own web space. This is something I’d always been interested in but just didn’t have enough spare time to be able to do it. Now I have the 8mb broadband it’s actually really easy to do - I’m learning a lot, and it hardly takes any time at all.”
Having used the internet for so long at work, Mr Jones had forgotten that it could actually be fun. However, thanks to his new superfast service, he is rediscovering all of the things that make the internet so exciting. He says, “The web page I’m working at the moment on is just a personal space about me and my family. It focuses partly on my father who is 72-years-old but is an amazingly fit man who manages to cycle 60 miles and swim half a mile every single day. He’s still not quite as fast as the broadband though!”
“There’s the more serious side of things of course,” he explains, “I work in IT, so I know the dangers of not having decent security features installed on your computer. The simplicity of the whole BT Broadband package and the fact that things such as Anti Virus software and Spam filters are already included really puts my mind at rest. It was so easy to set up and is very reasonably priced compared to other providers, which don’t always offer the fast speeds, the security, the wireless availability all together in one good package.”
