Demon nominated in MacUser awards
(03-10-07) - Demon (www.Demon.net) broadband has been nominated as the “ISP of the year award” in the annual MacUser awards.
ISPs are nominated by readers not because they provide Mac-specific broadband - as there is no such thing - rather, they are voted for because they provide technical support to Mac users as well as Mac compatible hardware such as routers and modems.
Nigel Stevens, Thus (Demon parent company) product director, commented: “To be nominated for such a prestigious award, as voted for by users, is a significant achievement for our Demon brand, and is clear recognition of our ability to meet customer needs by following through with service commitments.” The winner of the award will now be decided by the MacUser editorial judging panel.
Although broadband connections are standard and will work for any type of computer - PC or Mac - many ISPs don’t provide a Mac compatible service that includes often essential support and pre-configured hardware.
Michael Phillips, BroadbandChoices.co.uk product director, said: “If they’re confident with the technical side of setting up connections and happy to buy their own modem or router, Mac users can sign up to any ISP for their broadband.
“However, it makes sense to look for a provider that offers technical support to Mac users such as Demon, Madasafish (www.Madasafish.com), or BT (www.BT.com) so that you can get help should you ever need it.
“Any customers signing up to ‘non-Mac compatible’ providers, where they’ll have to buy their own router, should see if they can take advantage of one-month contract offers or avoid a connection fee by not taking the ‘free’ hardware offered,” he added.
