Ofcom awards kitemarks to selected price comparison sites

BroadbandChoices.co.uk today became one of only two price comparison sites to be awarded Ofcom’s new Price Accreditation Scheme kitemark (03-07-08).
In order to gain the accreditation, BroadbandChoices.co.uk and SimplifyDigital.co.uk - which was also awarded the kitemark - had to undergo a thorough auditing process to assess whether sufficient processes were in place to ensure that information is accessible, accurate, transparent, comprehensive and up to date.

Ed Richards, Ofcom chief executive, said: “Clear and accurate price information on communications services is fundamental to consumer choice. The Price Accreditation kitemark will assure consumers that the price comparison calculator they are using is up to date and reliable.”
Advising consumers on the benefits of using an accredited price comparison service, the telecoms regulator said: “By speaking with a company accredited under the Ofcom Price Accreditation Scheme, consumers can trust that the prices for these services are provided by a company that has been audited by Ofcom.
“Consumers will be able to contact accredited companies under the Scheme and feel assured that the information on prices of fixed line, mobile, broadband and digital television, or bundles of these services is accurate, comprehensive, up to date and accessible.”
