There are two ways that you can hook up your computer to your TV.
The first, which will provide the best quality picture, is by using a VGA cable. All relatively new computers will have a VGA point at the back, but unfortunately many TVs won’t.
If you have a flat panel TV then it should have a VGA point, but if you use a Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) TV - the large-bodied, deep backed type, then its unlikely that you’ll be able to connect a VGA cable.
Your second option is to connect with a standard scart cable but again, not all hardware will be compatible. Some graphics cards inside your computer have an S-Video or Composite cable sockets. You’ll have to get an adaptor for the cable, but you can connect to the scart socket a standard TV in this way. The two drawbacks with connecting this way are that not all computers have these sockets, and that the picture quality won’t be as good as with a VGA cable.
This second option will be okay for playing DVDs that are running in your computer but unfortunately anything else, like web pages and live video streaming will be poor quality.
