Peer-to-peer network

Two or more computers communicating without a central server, often used for file sharing.

Ping

A way of bouncing a signal to another IP address to see if the computer is online. Ping is useful for online gamers as it can also measure response time.

Pop-up

A box that will sometimes appear when you click on something on a website, providing you with further information. Also refers to pop-up advertisements that are not requested by the user.

Port forwarding

Allows you to send traffic from a blocked network port out and on to the internet through an open port.
