Cheap provider TalkTalk Broadband is offering speeds of up to 24MB for just £6.99 a month on its Essentials package (www.TalkTalk.co.uk/Essentials).
The ISP has boosted speeds on its budget package from 8Mb broadband to speeds of up to 24Mb - and even existing customers will receive a free speed increase.
The Essentials package is now the cheapest superfast broadband package using a copper wire ADSL connection.
For just £6.99 a month, you can now get an up to 24Mb broadband connection, a 40GB download allowance and a free wireless broadband router as well as free evening and weekend UK calls and a 10% discount on 16 international numbers.
Line rental costs £11.49 a month, giving you a total of £18.48 for all three services.
TalkTalk is also offering a web exclusive deal offering free connection, saving you £29.99.
Michael Phillips, Broadbandchoices.co.uk product director, said: “It’s great news that TalkTalk is offering Essentials customers such a significant speed boost for such a low monthly price.
“However, only around 30% of TalkTalk customers can actually get more than 8Mb,” he added. “And this boost is only available where line speed is over 8Mb - so if you only get 2Mb on your current 8Mb connection, you might not see any improvement.
Phillips advised customers to look at the possibility of installing an iPlate to improve slow speeds. “TalkTalk offers a ‘Tune Up’ kit that includes an iPlate to remove electrical interference caused by the old bell wire in some telephone sockets - which can boost speeds by an average of 1.5Mb,” he said.
