3’s MiFi, which lets you create your own portable wireless hotspot, is now available on an 18-month contract.
Mobile communications giant 3 Broadband (www.Three.co.uk) has extended its range of MiFi mobile broadband tariffs to include 18-month contracts.
3’s MiFi enables customers to create their own mobile Wi-fi hotspot using a 3 wireless modem. The wireless modem (pictured above) is a new product which 3 unveiled last month.
The modem makes it easy to connect Wi-fi-enabled gadgets like the iPod touch, gaming devices and laptops to the internet at the same time without wires, or a USB connection. So you can be surfing on your laptop while downloading a newly released album onto your iPod touch.
3 is now offering a choice of two 18-month contracts:
3’s mobile wifi is already available on two tariffs, a pay-as-you-go mobile broadband package and a rolling one-month contract.
Michael Phillips, Broadbandchoices.co.uk product director, said: “These 18-month contracts offer a chance to compare the additional benefits of MiFi with a standard 18-month mobile broadband contract.
“3 has thrown down the gauntlet with its MiFi product, and for the gadget lover in particular, MiFi could offer a real advantage over standard mobile broadband. But the 1GB contract isn't a suitable limit for someone who wants regularly to download music or games while they’re out and about.”
