3 Mobile Broadband (www.Three.co.uk) has launched a new mobile broadband MiFi bundle with a free iPod Touch
Mobile wireless modems - like the MiFi modem from 3 - allow users to use their mobile broadband connection to create a wireless hotspot no matter where they are. This means that customers can connect their iPod Touch, Nintendo DS or any other wifi device as well as laptops and netbooks.
The new deal offers MiFi with an iPod Touch for £23 a month, on a 24 month contract, with a generous 5GB download allowance - roughly 72 hours of browsing, 800 songs and 400 applications, according to 3. The 8GB iPod Touch can store 1,750 songs, 10,000 photos or 10 hours of video.
Charlotte Blanchard, director of products and services at 3, said: "The iPod Touch offers a really great browsing experience, but as with so many devices with wifi capabilities, the internet function rarely gets used because hotspots are so hard to come by.
“Now with MiFi on 3, iPod Touch users can get wireless internet whenever they want on the network that's designed and built for the mobile internet. We've responded to feedback from our customers to bring this bundle into our range, and at £23 a month it's the perfect treat for Christmas.”
MiFi is also available as a standalone product, on pay as you go mobile broadband tariffs for £49.99, or £69.99 as a ready to go kit, preloaded with a 3GB download allowance to use over three months. It’s also available on one month contracts or longer 18 month plans.
Michael Phillips, Broadbandchoices.co.uk product director, said: “Mobile wifi is the future of mobile broadband, allowing users to connect any device they want, wherever they are. However, even with a generous 5GB download allowance you still need to be careful not to exceed you limit,” he advised.
“Going over your limit is even easier if you're sharing your connection using mobile wifi, and at 10p per MB, out of bundle costs can soon add up.”
