BT exchanges set for superfast broadband

BT has revealed the latest round of superfast broadband upgrades to bring speeds of up to 40Mb and 100Mb to UK homes and businesses.
In December 2011, BT broadband (www.BT.com), the UK’s biggest broadband provider announced 178 new exchanges set to be connected to its fibre optic network.
BT’s fibre network already covers six million homes and businesses, and another 1.8 million will be able to enjoy faster speeds after the next round of upgrades.
The majority of the exchanges on the list will be upgraded by the end of 2012, said BT Openreach. Once these exchanges have been upgraded, Openreach will have completed around 80 per cent of its commercial fibre network covering two-thirds of UK premises by the end of 2014.
Other providers including Plusnet broadband (www.Plus.net) and TalkTalk broadband (www.Talktalk.co.uk) are also using the BT network to deliver fibre optic speeds - so compare packages to find out which offers the best deal for you.
