Orange customers can now get a special edition Asus Eee laptop at no extra cost when they sign up to the ISP’s mobile broadband service.
The latest Asus Eee 901 laptop is worth £299.99, comes with embedded 3G connectivity and is ultra-portable, weighing only 1.1Kg - making the perfect on-the-go laptop for mobile broadband.

"We believe this will be one of the most popular device offers in the marketplace this Christmas"

To get the “free” laptop - available from mid-November - customers must sign up to Orange Broadband's (www.Orange.co.uk) Internet Everywhere package at £25 a month for 24 months. It comes with a free mobile USB modem stick, a 3GB monthly download allowance and 100 texts from your laptop. Out of bundle usage is charged at 1.46p per MB and the top theoretical download speed is 1.8Mb.
Francois Mahieu, director of devices, Orange UK said: “By introducing the Eee PC 901 with integrated connectivity, we’re now making it even easier for customers to purchase a flexible solution that allows them to access the internet when they are out and about. As a result, we strongly believe this will be one of the most popular device offers in the marketplace this Christmas.”
Alternatively, customers can sign up to Orange mobile broadband for £15 a month without the laptop.
Michael Phillips, BroadbandChoices.co.uk product director, said: “This laptop is worth £299.99 in the shops but by spreading the cost over the course of your contract, you’ll not only ease the financial strain of paying for it in one go, but you’ll actually save yourself £60.
“However, 24 months is a very long time to be tied into a mobile broadband contract, especially since new offers are launching all the time with bigger download allowances or lower headline rates - offers that you’ll miss out on if you’re tied into an outdated contract for two years.”
