Virgin Media (www.VirginMedia.com) has cut the cost of going online in Europe with a new range of Travel Passes.
Starting at just £4 for an hour’s mobile internet use, or £10 for a day’s mobile broadband access in the EU, the new service will help customers stay online without running up unexpected bills, said the broadband provider.
Jonathan Kini, director of mobile at Virgin Media, said: “Virgin Media customers never have to worry about accessing the internet while they’re abroad.
“Whether it’s searching for the best pizzeria in Rome on your mobile or uploading photos onto Facebook with a laptop and mobile broadband, customers now have control over what they spend on holiday.”
The mobile internet Travel Passes cost £4 for an hour’s surfing with a 3MB allowance, or £6 for a day’s internet access on your phone, with a 5MB allowance.
Virgin Media is offering four mobile broadband Travel Passes, starting at £10 for a day’s access with 10MB limit and going up to three days, seven days and even a 30 day Pass for £60 with a 60MB allowance.
Michael Phillips, Broadbandchoices.co.uk product director, said: “Although these Travel Passes do cut the cost of roaming, and will help consumers to avoid unexpected ‘bill shocks’ when they return home, the data limits are still quite low, so you still need to be very careful about what you use your allowance for.
“It should only really be used for light internet use, such as checking emails or general web browsing - it is not designed for downloads or watching TV online,” he advised.
