The exodus of broadband customers from Orange has continued for the third consecutive quarter, dropping below 900,000 for the first time.
The ISP saw its customer base drop by 55,000 to 899,000 over the past three months - equating to a 12.2% drop over the year.
However, the company’s mobile broadband services fared better, with the number of people connecting to the internet over Orange Broadband's (www.Orange.co.uk) mobile network increasing by 65% to around 4.7 million customers.
Michael Phillips, Broadbandchoices.co.uk product director, said: “Although Orange has seen a large drop in its home broadband customer base, it is working to improve its service and has recently upgraded all of its packages to speeds of up to 20Mb.
“It will be interesting to see what impact these changes will have on the coming quarter,” he added.
