Switching broadband provider

Switching broadband provider

Switching your broadband provider can save you hundreds of pounds and get you a better deal on your internet, which is why millions of broadband customers have already made the simple, easy switch to a better value broadband package.

The Broadbandchoices.co.uk calculator is Ofcom accredited, so you can use our service in the confidence that it is a reliable source of comparative price information.

How to switch broadband

Whether you’re signing up to your first ever broadband package, or switching to a new provider, you can sign up online in just a few simple, easy steps.

  • Run a postcode search on Broadbandchoices.co.uk to see a list of all the providers offering broadband packages in your area. Broadband download speeds can vary by postcode depending on the different providers offering services in your area and because of the distance from your local exchange.
  • Select the package that best suits your needs, taking into account not only the price but also broadband speed, download allowances and customer service. By clicking on each package name you can access a full list of package details.
  • Once you have chosen your new broadband package, press GO. We will then take you to your chosen provider’s page where you can fill in the rest of your details.
  • Switching your broadband supplier is free and you could save yourself hundreds of pounds. If you have been with your existing supplier for more than 12 months and are outside of your initial contract term, you can switch.
  • If you’ve been with your ISP for less than 12 months and are still bound by your contract, you can save your search or have us email it to you. Then put a note in your diary so that you’re ready to switch when the time comes.

In order to switch broadband supplier, you will need to get your Migration Access Code (MAC) from your existing ISP. Once you’ve chosen your new package, simply call them up and request your MAC code - you’ll receive it within five days and be free to make a seamless switch, without a break in your connection.
