About BE Broadband

BE Broadband (www.BeThere.co.uk), which is owned by O2, is one of the UK’s fastest broadband providers. The company’s first connected customer averaged 18.5Mb and, albeit not quite to that level, it has continued to offer fast, reliable connections ever since.

BE offers a range of broadband packages - all with “unlimited broadband” downloads. Although users are subject to a fair usage policy, it is only implemented in extreme cases where usage is affecting other members or if illegal materials are being downloaded - making BE a great choice for heavy downloaders. BE also offers a business broadband package with unlimited downloads, available for companies and home users alike.

BE also promises not to “artificially reduce your speed to cram more people on a line” - so no throttling or traffic shaping, and it keeps the contention ratio as low as possible.

The BE Broadband service

As well as fast, reliable broadband connections, all BE customers receive a free wireless modem, the “BE Box”.

All BE customers - even those on its up to 12Mb package - can also enjoy upload speeds of up to 1.3Mb or more.

As with all superfast broadband connections, the speed advertised is the maximum you’ll receive. The actual bandwidth will depend on how close you are to your local telephone exchange, the quality of the copper wire connection, and signal interference.

BE Broadband benefits

BE users can manage their accounts online - allowing them to make changes to their accounts as well as letting them access a whole range of added extras, including tips on making the most of their broadband connection.

BE customers also have the option to “Build Your Own” broadband package, or can double download speeds to up to 44Mb by bonding two lines at the local exchange.

Customers on its Unlimited and Pro packages, who don’t want to commit to a long contract, can choose to pay a higher fee each month in exchange for a three month contract. Its Value package is only available on a 12 month contract.
