If you have an only dongle you want to reactivate, or want to switch from a pay as you go mobile broadband deal to contract, a sim-only mobile broadband deal could be the answer.
If you have an old mobile broadband dongle that you no longer use, a sim-only deal would allow you to get back online with mobile broadband without having to buy a new modem or sign a long contract. Also, if you’re a pay as you go mobile broadband customer, sim-only deals allow you to keep your flexibility while switching to a better value contract.
At present, Three Broadband (www.Three.co.uk) is the only provider to offer sim-only contracts, and it says that its sim cards cannot be taken out of a dongle and used in a laptop with built-in mobile broadband. However, as built-in mobile broadband becomes more widespread and other mobile broadband providers launch sim-only deals, cards should become more flexible. At the moment, Three sim-only mobile broadband can only be used with a Three mobile USB modem stick.
Three’s sim-only mobile broadband comes with a 30 day contract - perfect for anyone that doesn’t want to sign a long contract.
Three’s current sim-only mobile broadband deal offer 5GB a month for £15.99 - the same amount of data that 18 month mobile broadband contract users get without the long contract.
For the same monthly cost, pay as you go users only get 3GB. So by switching to a sim-only deal, customers are getting themselves an extra 2GB a month - and keeping the option to cancel with just 30 days notice.
Sim-only mobile broadband deals suit users who already own a dongle - either an out-of-use modem or a pay as you go dongle they want to switch to a contract.
They offer better value for money than pay as you go deals, without compromising on flexibility - making sim-only mobile broadband perfect for students and occasional users who might not need their mobile broadband connection all year long.
