As well as BT’s standalone Total Broadband packages, you can also bundle your broadband with a range of call packages and even digital TV in the form of BT Vision. See www.BT.com/Bundles for more information on BT’s broadband bundle packages.
BT (www.BT.com) continues to invest in its broadband infrastructure. 90% of households will be able to access BT's ADSL2+ - faster copper broadband - by 2013 delivering speeds of up to 16Mb. BT has released a list of all the telephone exchanges scheduled for upgrade by spring 2013.
BT’s broadband packages come with a variety of download limits - 10GB, 40GB or “unlimited broadband” allowances with a fair usage policy.
BT has developed a broadband checker tool so you can check BT Broadband speeds in your area before you buy. Simply visit www.BT.com and enter your postcode or phone number to show BT broadband connection speed test results near you.
From £4 per month customers can add BT Vision, BT’s digital TV service to their broadband package, or pay extra for unlimited access to on demand content including Vision Kids, Film Club, TV, Sport & Music. You can also subscribe to Sky Sports 1 & 2 with either TV package.
BT offers three superfast broadband packages - up to 38Mb, 76Mb and 100Mb.
It's 38Mb connection comes with upload speeds of up to 9.5Mb and a set 40GB usage limit.
By the end of 2012 BT's fibre network will be available to 40% of UK households, however BT aims to make fibre broadband available to two-thirds of the UK by the end of 2014. BT has announced another 178 telephone exchanges that will be upgraded in 2012 as part of its nationwide roll-out. The exchanges announced include 34 locations in Scotland, 21 in the East Midlands, 20 in Yorkshire and the Humber and 19 in the south-west.
Once the new exchanges are upgraded, it will take the project up to 80% completion.
In spring 2012 BT doubled the download speed of its 38Mb fibre optic broadband service to 76Mb. This means BT customers, and customers of other providers that use the BT Openreach network will have a choice of superfast services. BT's up to 76Mb package also offers 19Mb upload speeds and comes with an unlimited usage allowance (subject to BT's fair usage policy).
BT also offers an ultrafast service using fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP) technology which provides up to 100Mb download and up to 15Mb upload speeds. BT's 100Mb package also comes with an unlimited usage allowance subject to BT's fair usage policy.
As well as its standard broadband service and free BT Home Hub wireless router, BT also offers an extensive range of added extras, including mobile broadband, free wireless broadband minutes, free internet security, online backup and storage and access to the BT Fon network of wireless hotspots.
Customers who originally signed to BT's up to 8Mb connection can upgrade to BT's ADSL2+ network at no extra cost by signing a new contract with the ISP, providing their local exchange has been upgraded to offer the new speeds.

Michael Phillips, BroadbandChoices.co.uk product director, said: “BT (www.BT.com) is never going to be the cheapest broadband provider, but it does offer a host of free extras that add to its value and make it a good family ISP.
“However, BT is not a good choice for anyone looking to do a lot of peer-to-peer downloading as it does block certain ports which could restrict your access.”
