Switching broadband provider is easier than you think. Find answers to frequently asked questions: Will I lose my connection if I switch? No. You can continue using your current service to the day your new provider activates your connection. With some providers, the only downtime you may experience is a couple of hours on the day the switch actually happens. However, you should be able to plan ahead if you provider has an order-tracking system. Should I cancel my current service? No - there's no need to cancel your current connection. Plus, it's a lot easier to switch from one active broadband account to another. However, you should make a note to cancel any direct debits with your current provider once you have switched. |
Will my current provider charge me if I switch? It won't cost you anything to switch your broadband. However, you could face termination charges if you switch before the end of a fixed term contract (i.e. you may need to pay any outstanding charges). If in doubt, you should check with your current provider first. Can I keep my phone number?Yes, you can normally keep your existing number if you switch from one provider to another. However if you're a cable customer or need a new line, you'll need to get a new number. Do I need a MAC code?If you are switching from one provider to another, you'll need a MAC code (also known as a MAC key) to get started. You can get your MAC code by contacting your old provider - you will find your provider's customer service phone number in the table to the right of this page. |
