Free laptops, dongles and other added extras are the main consideration when choosing a new mobile broadband package, according to a new study.
More than 30% of the 1,333 people polled said that added extras were most likely to affect their choice of mobile broadband package - ahead of download speeds, price and download allowances.
Only 23% said that speed was the most important factor, while over 21% citied low prices and just 13% said that their download allowance was the most important aspect of a package.
Michael Phillips, Broadbandchoices.co.uk product director, said: “While it’s easy to be tempted by freebies and introductory offers, you need to consider all aspects of a package before signing a long mobile broadband contract.
“Many mobile broadband packages, including all free laptop deals, come with a 24 month contract, so you need to make sure that the package is right before you commit.
“Mobile broadband speeds can vary depending on where you live and you should always run a postcode check to see what coverage will be like in your area before signing up,” he advised. “Download allowances are equally important, since out of bundle data can be costly,” added Phillips. “Make sure that you keep an eye on your downloads to avoid exceeding your limit,” he concluded.
