(11-03-07) - Customers of Biscit Broadband were left reeling after the ISP announced that it had been forced to enter into administration after severe financial problems.
Biscit, a second tier ISP, had attempted to rapidly grow its business by following TalkTalk into the “Free” broadband space and in its acquisition of V21. The latter move is reported to have been the final straw in the company’s collapse.
Chris Eagle, of BroadbandChoices commented “While this disruption is less than ideal; Biscit customers at least have the option of switching to a new provider.”
Customers of Biscit Broadband now have the option of migrating to a similar package offered by Breathe or to migrate to a new broadband provider.
Ominously, Eagle added, “Biscit is likely to be the first example of many smaller ISPs either selling up or falling by the way side as a result of fierce competition in the UK broadband market.”
