About O2 Mobile Broadband

O2 offers a range of mobile broadband packages, with a choice of pay as you go, rolling one month, and 18 or 24 month contracts.

Its pay monthly contracts come with either a 3GB or a 10GB monthly download allowance. Additional usage is charged at 19.6p per MB and users also have unlimited access to O2’s 7,500 wifi hotspots with The Cloud and BT Openzone.

Pay as you go customers can pay £2 a day for a 500MB allowance, £7.50 for a week with a 1GB allowance or £15 for 30 days with a 3GB allowance. All pay as you go customers also get unlimited wifi access.

O2 laptops with mobile broadband

O2 has rolled out an impressive array of free laptops with long-term mobile broadband contracts. At the time of writing, the company has a wide selection of Samsung laptops with mobile broadband.

O2 mobile broadband benefits

The free wifi access that O2 customers get with their mobile broadband packages is great, as it allows users to save on their download allowance by connecting to the wireless broadband network whenever possible.

O2 also offers a £2.45 a month discount on all of its home broadband packages for 3GB mobile broadband customers.

O2 mobile broadband coverage

Make sure you check O2’s 3G coverage in your area before signing up as coverage can be patchy in rural areas. You can check online or in an O2 store.

You can read more information about coverage on our O2 mobile broadband coverage page.

Our expert’s verdict

Michael Phillips, BroadbandChoices.co.uk product director, said: “While O2 doesn’t offer the cheapest mobile broadband packages on the market, customers taking one of its pay monthly packages can get a discount on its home broadband - so you could get its Standard package for just £4.89 a month extra.

“Customers on any of O2’s pay monthly packages need to be very careful not to exceed their monthly download allowance though, as it charges a massive 19.6p per MB - more than any other provider."
