AOL hasn’t yet revealed plans to provide customers with a fibre broadband connection.
AOL broadband (www.AOL.co.uk) is part of the TalkTalk Telecom Group and uses the UK’s biggest next-generation network to make its broadband available to 85% of households.
However, despite having the same parent company, unlike its sister company, TalkTalk, which offers customers a “fibre boost”, AOL is yet to launch a fibre broadband product.

In 2010, culture secretary, Jeremy Hunt, outlined the government’s £830million strategy to place the UK at the forefront of broadband provision by 2015. Plans include the development of a “digital hub” in every community in the UK.
Unlike traditional copper wire, fibre optic cable does not suffer such significant decline in connection speeds as distance from the telephone exchange increases. Fibre cable is designed to transfer massive amounts of data at lightning fast speeds.
This is why fibre optic broadband is described as “future-proof”.
The benefits of fibre are:
| Supplier | Speed (up to) | Usage limit | Contract length | Monthly charge | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Broadband + Calls | 14Mb | 10GB | 18 months | £5.20 (for 3 months) First month Free | Call AOL on 0800 049 4404 |
| Broadband Only | 14Mb | 10GB | 18 months | £5.31 (for 3 months) First month Free | Call AOL on 0800 049 4404 |
