BT Broadband (www.BT.com) has cut the price of its broadband bundle packages as well as renaming its home phone and broadband deals.
However, it has cut the download allowance on its medium home phone and broadband bundle, which is now known as Talk and Surf Plus, from “unlimited” to just 10GB a month.
Get Connected has become the Talk and Surf package, and the cost has dropped from £7.99 a month for three months, £15.99 thereafter, to a three-month introductory price of £7.49 a month, £14.49 thereafter.
It comes with up to 20Mb broadband, a 10GB download allowance and unlimited weekend landline calls.
The Home & Away plan has been renamed Talk and Surf Plus, with a price drop from £18.99 for the first three months, £24.99 thereafter, to just £9.99 for three months, followed by a new standard price of £19.99.
Talk and Surf Plus comes with a 20Mb connection, a reduced 10GB download allowance and inclusive anytime calls.
While the standard price of BT’s Unlimited package, which has been renamed Talk and Surf Unlimited, has gone down by £1.99 a month to £27.99, the introductory offer has been pushed up by £1 to £19.99 for the first three months.
Talk and Surf Unlimited comes with speeds of up to 20Mb, “unlimited broadband” downloads, subject to a fair usage policy, and inclusive anytime calls.
Line rental costs £11.54 a month when paid via direct debit and taken with paperless billing. All packages are subject to an 18 month contract.
BT has also ditched its £0 connection offer on broadband and home phone bundles, meaning that any new customers needing a landline installed will be charged £50 unless they want to take a triple play package including BT Vision.
Michael Phillips, product director at Broadbandchoices.co.uk, said: “All new customers can now take advantage of BT’s new up to 20Mb broadband speeds.
“However, unless you're taking the Unlimited package, you'll need to keep an eye on your downloads to make sure that you don’t exceed your 10GB monthly download allowance - especially if you're using your new superfast broadband connection to download music and movies, play online games and watch your favourite shows online using services like the BBC iPlayer and 4oD,” he warned.
