Primus offer great value-for-money broadband packages.
Primus (www.Primussaver.co.uk) is well established as a value for money broadband provider, regularly occupying the top spot for cheapest broadband packages on the market.
Primus utilises TalkTalk’s (www.Talktalk.co.uk) wholesale broadband network to deliver its own broadband service. TalkTalk is the UK’s largest “unbundler” - meaning it has installed its own equipment in over 2,000 of the UK’s 5,600 local telephone exchanges, giving Primus an impressive 90% UK coverage.
To find out if you can get Primus’ great value broadband use the Broadbandchoices.co.uk postcode checker.
Primus offers broadband download speeds of up to 24Mb; however, as with all broadband providers, this may not be the actual speed you achieve. The average speed you will get through your line will be affected by a range of factors outside of your control. These include your distance from the local telephone exchange, the quality of the telephone line between your home and the exchange and whether your exchange has been upgraded to ADSL2+ (double speed copper wire), which enables faster data transmission.
Primus is currently a great option for value-for-money broadband with its lowest priced options costing under £5 a month. However, as with most providers this is dependent on the user being within the unbundled network and taking Primus broadband as part of a bundle.
Primus’ broadband-only customers pay a significantly higher price for their broadband, and, on the “Broadband Saver” package, will be offered connection speeds of only up to 8Mb.
Primus says it is currently working with TalkTalk on fibre-to-the-cabinet trials that will allow it to offer customers up to 40Mb broadband, with plans for up to 100Mb broadband shortly after. Primus is planning to release its fibre products in the first quarter of 2012.
