Virgin Media customers are being rapidly upgraded to 10Mb broadband, and almost 60% of its customers are now taking a triple-play bundle.
Virgin Media's (www.VirginMedia.com) roll-out of faster broadband speeds means that 72% of its customers now have an up to 10Mb broadband package or higher.
2.7 million of the company’s customers now have an up to 10Mb or higher broadband package, including 834,000 who have been upgraded by the company, according to Virgin Media’s third quarter results.
Almost 60% of Virgin Media customers are opting for broadband, TV and home phone combined packages.
Neil Berkett, chief executive officer of Virgin Media, said: “Our triple-play penetration is at record levels [59.5%] and over 10% of our customers now take all four services from us.”
The company also reported that as people choose packages with better features, its revenue from each customer is £44.24 – up from £42 in the same period in 2008.
Michael Phillips, product director at Broadbandchoices.co.uk, said: “Virgin Media continues to lead the way with faster speed broadband products. Its on-demand TV service, featuring the BBC’s iPlayer also adds a compelling reason to buy for many households.
“Beyond that, though, customers can save significant amounts by bundling Virgin Media’s services, with triple-play packages that start at just £19.50 and include 10Mb broadband, digital TV and free weekend national calls.”
