What is Sky’s half price broadband offer?

What is Sky’s half price broadband offer?

Hi Michael,

I’m a BT phone and unlimited broadband customer. I’ve already got Sky TV but recently heard about a tempting special offer on Sky broadband. Apparently, I can get unlimited home internet from Sky, half price for 12 months.

It sounds too good to be true. Is it?

Our Broadband Expert says...

Hi Claire,

You’ll be pleased to hear that it’s true what you heard. As part of Sky’s Winter Broadband Sale, there is 12 months of half price unlimited broadband up for grabs, for both existing and new customers taking calls, line rental and broadband from Sky (www.Sky.com).

So regardless of whether you are a Sky TV customer, you can save over £200 by switching your unlimited broadband, calls and line rental to Sky. The short guide below explains how the offer works and the savings you could make by switching to from BT (www.BT.com) to Sky broadband.

What do I get with Sky’s half price broadband offer?

As an existing Sky TV customer, you can certainly enjoy some discount in the Sky Winter Broadband Sale. Right now, you could switch to Sky’s totally unlimited broadband and get it half price for 12 months, with no caps on usage whatsoever.

You’d also have inclusive evening and weekend calls to other UK landlines, as well as line rental that’s cheaper than with BT. It’s also worth noting that Ofcom recently found Sky typically gives its broadband users better customer service than BT, Virgin Media (www.Virginmedia.com) and TalkTalk (www.Talktalk.co.uk).

Do I need to have Sky TV?

No. The half price broadband offer is open to new customers joining Sky with or without its television package. It’s also available to existing Sky TV subscribers, like you, Claire, who want to add home phone and internet to their service.

Join with Sky TV - New customers taking Sky TV as well as their half price broadband will get Sky Broadband Unlimited with a basic Sky television package and home phone with inclusive evening and weekend calls for £23.75 a month. After the first 12 months, the price would increase to £27.50 a month. Remember, you’d also be paying Sky’s line rental of £12.25 a month.

Join without Sky TV - New customers opting against Sky TV will get Sky Broadband Unlimited with calls for £5 a month. After the first 12 months, the price would go up to £10 a month. Again, you’d also need to pay Sky line rental of £12.25 a month.

How much money would I save?

As you’re already a Sky TV customer, Claire, you could potentially save over £200 when you switch your unlimited broadband, calls and line rental from BT to Sky.

How do I switch to Sky?

Whether you’re signing up for your first ever broadband package, or, as in your case Claire, simply switching provider, you can get set up online in just a few easy steps.

  • Run a postcode search at Broadbandchoices.co.uk to see a list of all the providers offering broadband packages in your area. This should help you decide whether Sky’s half price offer really is the best deal for you.
  • Select the package that best meets your requirements, taking into account not only the price but also broadband speed, download allowances and customer service ratings. Sky is one of only a few providers to offer truly unlimited broadband in the UK.
  • Once you have chosen your new broadband package, press GO. You will then be taken to your selected provider’s website, where you can fill in the rest of your details.

Remember, switching broadband supplier is free and you could save yourself hundreds of pounds. Anyone who’s been with their existing supplier for more than 12 months and is outside of the initial contract term can switch.

If you’ve been with your provider for fewer than 12 months and are still bound by your contract, you can save your search or have us email it to you. Then put a note in your diary so you’re ready to switch as soon as the right time arrives.
