Eclipse was launched in 1995 as a dial-up internet service, offering its first broadband packages in 2001 and becoming the first ISP to offer a service simple enough to be installed at home without the need of an engineer. In 2002 Eclipse became the first provider to offer online ordering.
Eclipse is a business focused Internet Service Provider (ISP) with over 16,000 small and medium sized businesses using their services. However they also offer home broadband via a range of packages.
Eclipse says the fact that 70 per cent of its sales come through recommendation rather than advertising is testimony to its dedication to customer service - the ISP's call centre is UK based and they aim to answer all calls within 90 seconds. They say their technical support staff and "some of the best experts in the industry". You can find out more about how Eclipse customers rated their broadband service on our Eclipse broadband review.
Eclipse (www.Eclipse.net) offers three home broadband packages, with speeds of up to 16Mb. Home Lite, Home Select and Home Pro each come with a set monthly download allowance of 2GB, 50GB or a massive 100GB plus free, unmetered usage from 11pm-9am, respectively.
Each package can also be optimised towards your personal needs using your online account.
Customers on the top two packages also have the choice of either a one month or 12-month contract when they sign up.
Eclipse Broadband can also be bundled with a selection of home phone plans.
Each of Eclipse’s broadband packages offer personalised traffic controlling, allowing you to set priorities for the type of traffic you are generating so if "gaming" is set as a higher priority than "P2P", gaming data will take priority when both are being used at the same time.
Eclipse Broadband also comes with a static IP address as standard, UK-based customer support and free virus and spam protection.
Eclipse offers set download allowances instead of “unlimited broadband” so it will not throttle your connection. The ISP also offers domain names, web hosting and eStores - perfect for small businesses broadband users and home offices.
Michael Phillips, BroadbandChoices.co.uk product director, said: “Over the years Eclipse (www.Eclipse.net) has worked hard for its good reputation and it has won a multitude of awards for its broadband and customer service. It offers good value broadband packages with reliable connections and high customer service standards.
“As well as being a reliable home broadband provider, Eclipse is a great choice for small businesses and home office workers, with a wide range of added extras such as static IP addresses and free webspace.”
