I was with B.T on 18 month contract. Got an average speed of 1.5mbs, over 18 mths. Paid for up to 10mbs, and lived a stones throw from exchange!!. All the usual suspects ie, computer etc all ruled out as probable cause. When contract ended decided to opt for virgin media.(cable) Best decision ever made to date. aprx 5 months. Average speed (with broadband monitor ) 7-8 mbs! Excellent service . I too hate the negatives, ie poor service speed etc- but let's have the positive too.(when it's due)Well done Virgin. Only one problem, not able to get caller display my area, but they're working on it . Ah bless! - Nov 10 2008 1:28PM

I joined up with Orange with a Package Deal £24 November 2007 for 8mb got average 700k at 16.00 hours to 12 Midnite & 1.5mb from 1 am to 7 am & my Line is Capable of 5.5mb. Orange Blamed BT, i Paid BT to investigate as Orange Refused but BT found out that my Line is in Fact Capable of 9mb ! After Survey BT Proved it was Orange, Orange was not happy with that so then they arranged for their own Tests with BT to call round, BT came up with the same Results, Orange Blamed it on busy internet Traffic, before joining Orange i had a new BT line & Boxe's installed my BT Lines from House to Exchange are all new & i Live Less than one Fifth of a mile away from the new Exchange ? 16 x Letters 85 Calls & 12 E-Mails & 1 Visit to Rotherham, i was told to go away or they would call the Police. i was with Pipex Before, No Problem. so therefore think of me when you are stuck with a 18 Month Contract......Help ! - Nov 10 2008 12:28PM

I am with Tiscali paying for 8MB, finding that I could not average more than 2.5MB I complained and got a price reduction on my package. But low and behold my average speed went down to less than 1.5MB even though I am still supposed to be on 8MB. My point is you cannot win, I have spent pounds on phone calls to call centres where the operator did not seem to understand my complaint. - Nov 10 2008 11:48AM
