Polish Broadband from PlusNet
(25-06-07) - PlusNet has introduced a Polish language broadband service in a bid to become the provider of choice for the country’s growing Polish community.
They have also set up a dedicated helpline for Polish-speaking customers and a Polish language forum on its community website so that users can swap ideas and information.
The Economist recently reported that it is migrants rather than geeks who are the most advanced users of communications technologies, taking advantage of cheap and free calls over the internet services as well as webcams to keep in touch with family back home.
PlusNet says that its broadband service is ideally suited to providing the kind of time-sensitive technologies that migrants want to use, such as Skype, VoIP, webcams and Gadu-Gadu, the popular chat software from Poland.
Neil Armstrong, products director at PlusNet said: “With the Polish community in the UK now numbering more than 750,000 people - two per cent of the global Polish population - we’re addressing their needs in a way that makes sense for them.
“As an online company we’re able to act ‘glocal’ - setting up a global service that can be specifically tailored to meet local needs,” he added. “All of our customers receive the same service and prices, so we’re simply tailoring our message for a different community. Subject to demand, we’d like to see further languages coming online in the future.”
Chris Eagle, commercial manager at BroadbandChoices.co.uk said: “Some high-street banks have also begun to offer Polish-language services and it’s a great way to offer a product on a local level. As the Polish community continues to grow, companies that offer such services will no doubt become their chosen providers.”
