Background – All of the EFH (www.EfhBroadband.com) home packages offer one month contracts as well as free set-up, connection and installation. Also, if you buy their router it will arrive preconfigured for people less tech-savvy.
Awards – There are no published awards for this provider.
Suitability – Their four home packages range from a genuinely unlimited package with a 512Kb connection, with only one month’s contract – suitable for heavy users who don’t need an especially fast connection, to limited 8Mb connections. The download limits vary from 1GB up to 30GB, and you will be charged extra for exceeding them, but all charges are well publicised.
They also have a free phone number for both their customer service centre and their technical support so you can spend as much time on the phone to them as you need.
Our verdict – If you migrate to EFH, then their one month contracts are great as you will only pay a £12.93 cancellation fee because they won’t have to install any equipment. If you’re new to broadband however, they’ll have to install hardware for you, so if you want to cancel within a year you’ll have to pay £47.
They were bought by 186k at the end of 2006, so it is still too early to say how this has affected their performance.
