  • Email Anti-virus scanning: the AOL service automatically scans all incoming emails and attachments for viruses and other infections
  • Spam controls: AOL's advanced spam filter blocks known junk email. (Read our guide to Spam protection)
  • Parental control and AOL Guardian: AOL Broadband helps you monitor and control your children's use of the Internet. You can set the parental controls to offer a different level of security for each member of the family, allowing your children more freedom to roam the internet as they grow older. (Read our guide to Protecting your children online)
  • AOL Computer Check-up: Monitors and corrects a variety of AOL-related and general computer-related problems to help improve the performance of your system. AOL also regularly checks your security settings to ensure that they’re up to date

Re my previous issue, I have given up asking AOL to withhold my number, I went into edit on my phone and in front of all my numbers I just entered 141. - Sep 27 2011 5:07PM

I to am having problems with AOL about withholding my number, I have spoken to their customer service dept 8 times, each time to a different person, and each time being told it would be done in either 24hrs, 48hrs or 5 days, it still has'nt been done, I even had a call from someone asking me if I was happy with AOL, I explained the problem and was told it would be done, guess what? it has'nt. This has all happened since I took out a new package where I also get line rental from AOL instead of BT, I wish I had kept with BT, when this deal comes to an end I will probably return to BT for the line rental, better to pay a few extra pounds then have all this hassle, also its not a free number to AOL each time I have to pay. - Sep 22 2011 11:49AM

I transferred my line from BT to AOL and my line has been crossed with another number. I have even told AOL the number that is now accepting my calls however it has been 4 days I have been without inrternet or landline, I have spent over 3 hours on the phone to their "customer service" department from a mobile at 40.9p + vat per minute as they have no facility apparently to call me back- which is strange for a telephony company- this is not a good start and unless I get my phone connected and working in the next 24 hours and my phone calls refunded I will be going to sky and cancelling my aol contract completely. An absolute shambles - May 23 2011 9:57AM
have been experiencing same prob re aol withheld number since prior xmas 2010 when i upgraded broadband package inc. transfer of line rental from BT to AOL . AOL acknowledging problem (at least 6+ times) and once again promise to resolve within 24/48 hrs the latest conversation today 09/02/2011. this situation has caused much inconvenience and annoyance. - Feb 10 2011 1:09PM
more than annoyed, merseyside

for the PAST WEEK I have been ringing your 499 5555 number trying without any sucess to get the withheld number facility OFF my phone line. Last Tuesday I was told it would take 48 hrs.it was still on when i phoned on Friday, phoned back Told another 48 hrs. Monday told between 1-2 hrs Tuesday (Yesterday) told another 48 hours.I have been trying to contact my brother to tell him about a death in the family and his phone will not accept with held numbers, also alot of my elderly friends will not take the calls from numbers they cannot reconise. NOT a happy customer since useing you for line rental. perhaps would have been better staying with BT. I think I have been through to every department on your 5555 number even the billing dept, perhaps they could give me a refund on my bill for this agrievation - Nov 10 2010 9:25AM

it is all about keeping it real =] - Aug 25 2010 8:04AM
We have been with AOL for a long time, about 6 years now. They tried to take the monthly payment by the direct debit, but failed as they used the wrong details. I heard nothing of this matter, except some very odd phone calls from abroad who may or may not have been AOL or telephone scammers.

Last week, AOL charged me 8 times my bill of £47.95. This money has been confirmed 'earmarked' for AOL by my bank's card services but AOL deny having the money even though AOL themselves have supplied me with transaction codes!!

The money has not been returned to my account. The bank say they cannot help and AOL are refusing to help.

I will be calling tomorrow for my MAC code as I am leaving AOL.

My wife is having problems connecting to AOL even though I am still paying £14.99 a month. When she phones she is told that she is not on the account therefore they won't talk to her. Her name is Jane Grant i want someone to phone her this weekend or i will cancel the direct debit. - Jan 15 2010 2:38PM
